Low Level Pool Enclosure installation in Surrey

The initial enquiry was back in June 2004 when Mr L from Surrey enquired about covers for his outdoor pool. All information was sent at that time and they eventually went for an automatic cover in 2007 – mainly because they had gone to the expense of Indian Slat around the pool and didn’t want lots of holes drilled into their new paving.

An installation of a low level enclosure in August 2011. Mr & Mrs L decided on a low level pool enclosure primarily to keep all the leaves out of the swimming pool. They already had an electric safety cover installed over the pool so it wasn’t all about keeping the pool safe. The maintenance on their outdoor pool was really the main issue. Having to clean the pool for a good half hour before a swim was really making what should be a pleasurable experience – a chore!  Mrs L was not convinced that the enclosure was the route to go. Maybe it would spoil the garden? Mr L was sure it was something that they would hugely benefit from. Now having grandchildren visit and wanting to use the pool -  an enclosure was possibly the answer. Several visits were made and measurements taken. A quotation produced based on their requirements. We even produced drawings not only of a low level IRIS enclosure but a medium height giving them the option of an enclosure with full head room at one end – enough room to sit inside and give them some space if the weather was poor. The concerns were mainly the height so they eventually opted for the low level IRIS.

The position of the pool was along the side of the house. Having been dug out originally when installed – so had a small supporting wall at the back. This gave the enclosure a lower look. Blending into the bank. When totally retracted back off the pool the enclosure sits neatly against the wall. The colour chose was ivory – this matched the rendered house. Because the paving around the pool was heavily riven Indian Slat this made the sliding action a little harder than usual. Therefore we installed a rail to make the enclosure easier for Mrs L to use when swimming alone. They opted for one side door for entrance on the house side and an elevating end to give them the full use of the pool.

I guess that what has been achieved with this enclosure is a lower maintenance swimming experience. Not only this but Mr & Mrs L can swim anytime – even under cover with an added benefit of saving on their pool heating. Although the automatic safety cover was acting as a heat retention blanket by retaining the heat generated by the pool heater the additional IRIS installation has totally trapped any escaping heat – day and night!
